Debut with the Hallé Orchestra

On March 2022, Rodolfo will be leading the Hallé Orchestra on an all-American program, which includes works by Gerschwin, Korngold, Jennifer Higdon and Bernstein. This concert will be Barráez's debut with the Hallé Orchestra in Manchester, where he was one of the winners of the Siemens Conductors Competition in 2020.

Askonas Holt welcomes Rodolfo Barráez to its roster for general management.

The Venezuelan-born conductor won First Prize at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México International Conducting Competition in 2018 and Second Prize at the Inaugural Siemens-Hallé International Conductor Competition in 2020 – the latter resulting in an invitation to conduct The Hallé in Manchester. Forthcoming highlights elsewhere include dates with Madrid’s RTVE Symphony, Simón Bolívar Symphony, Minería Symphony, Bogotá Philharmonic and National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico.

 

A graduate of the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, Rodolfo is based in Berlin and will assist Jonathan Nott on a tour of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie in March. As a violinist he has performed under Sir Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado and Gustavo Dudamel. Rodolfo is the Founder of the Falcón Conducting Workshop – an organisation inspired by his own education experience with El Sistema where he was mentored by Teresa Hernández and José Abreu.

BIOGRAPHY

Berlin-based Venezuelan conductor Rodolfo Barráez made his European debut at Philharmonie Berlin in 2019 with the Hauptstadt Sinfonie-Orchester. Currently completing his Master’s conducting studies at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, Rodolfo is a natural communicator with infectious charisma, bringing remarkable vivacity, sensitivity and zeal to his artistry. From 2015-17, Rodolfo served as Principal Guest Conductor of the Falcón Symphony Orchestra.

A recipient of numerous international competition awards, Rodolfo recently took the 2nd Prize at the Inaugural 2020 Siemens-Hallé International Conductor Competition in Manchester (leading to immediate invitations with The Hallé), 1st Prize at the 2018 Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México International Conducting Competition (OFUNAM), and was a participant at the prestigious Mahler Competition 2016.
